Operating System (OS) OR Platform Dependency
In this case
whenever the source code is compiling, it generates machine code (executable
code/native code) which will be generate targeting the operating system on
which the compilation is made because the responsibility of executing machine
code these on the hands of operating system. So machine code generated for one
operating system cannot execute on other operating system.
For example:
C++ on Windows
operating system when Source Code Compile then we gets Machine Code (executable
file)
In the above case
because the source code is complied on windows operating system the generated
machine code can execute only on windows operating system.
Note: java virtual
machine (JVM) is also dependent and common language runtime (CLR) is also
dependent but intermediate language (IL) & Byte code only two things are
independent.
